Cory Henry

Cory Henry stands out among the artists of his generation with his many qualities. We know that he started his career as a child prodigy, but more importantly, he is a virtuoso Hammond B3 organ player, and has improvisational skills and a charming personality that are second to none. He is also a noted composer, producer and multi-instrumentalist, and a Grammy Award-winning member of Snarky Puppy. Two years ago he played in a trio; now he arrives at Müpa Budapest with a larger formation and some real surprises.

He was already being called Master Henry at just five years old, but only because of his virtuosity and boundless modulation skills. His infinite modesty would not allow him to be called master now, even though he boasts the likes of Bruce Springsteen, Michael McDonald, Boyz II Men and Kanye West as musical partners. He was a member of Kenny Garrett's touring band for three years. His debut album, First Steps, was released in 2014 and immediately reached the top 5 on Billboard's jazz albums chart. Subsequently, all of his work has been enthusiastically received by the industry and the public alike. In 2018, he formed his band The Funk Apostles and released their debut album, Art of Love, which was critically acclaimed by the New York Times, Billboard and NPR. 2020's Something To Say was born in the wake of the confinement that challenged human relationships, as well as social injustices and all of the hardships that come with them. His message was so well received that the album earned him a Grammy nomination. Not unlike 2022's Operation Funk.

Our offer

It is always a thrill to reflect on the fact that, even though the vast majority of Richard Wagner's oeuvre consists of his operas and music dramas, and the singers who perform in them on the world's top stages are exceptional artists, the most popular parts of these works, which can also be played independently, are the orchestral sequences.

Márton Simon is one of the most exciting and creative authors in contemporary Hungarian literature, a pivotal member of its middle generation of writers. The slammer, performer and poet has followed his own path from the very beginning and now can boast thousands of followers and readers.

Please note that the auditorium is closed for visits during rehearsals. Guided tours are not available during performances.
