Mozart utolsó hegedűversenyét – amely ma a legtöbb zenekari próbajátékon kötelező mű – mindössze 19 évesen írta. Utolsó tételének egyik epizódja Mozart jellegzetes „törökös” zenéinek egyike, a Szöktetés a szerájból török muzsikájának előképe. Suk mestere, Dvořák úgy találta, hogy 18 éves növendéke túlontúl búskomor zenékkel jelentkezik, ezért egy derűs mű komponálására ösztönözte. Az így született szerenád nem csak Suk legtöbbet játszott darabja, hanem a vonószenekari repertoár egyik jelentős műve is.
